Loan Calculator
Enter an amount, a rate, and a term and get the level payment every fixed-rate installment loan reduces to, plus an origination fee folded in if the lender charges one. The schedule shows exactly how each payment splits between interest and principal, and how that split shifts toward principal as the balance shrinks.

Origination fee
Charged up front, so the amount you actually receive is the loan amount minus the fee — but you repay the full loan amount on schedule. That makes the loan cost more than its stated rate suggests, which is what effective APR below captures.
Percent of the loan amount. Leave at 0 if none.
How this is calculated
For educational purposes only. Results are estimates and do not constitute financial, tax, or legal advice. Consult a qualified professional before making any financial decisions.
How to use it
Enter the loan amount, the rate, and a term — in years or months, whichever the offer quotes. The payment and schedule update as you type.
If the lender charges an origination fee, add it to see both what you actually receive and the effective APR that fee implies — usually noticeably higher than the stated rate.
Switch the schedule between annual and monthly to see either the big-picture payoff curve or the exact split on any single payment.
Assumptions
- Assumes a single fixed rate for the full term, with a level monthly payment — the standard shape for a personal, student, or auto loan.
- An origination fee is modeled as reducing what you receive at disbursement while the full loan amount is still repaid on schedule, which is how most lenders structure it.
- Effective APR is solved numerically from the payment and the amount actually received — it can be omitted if the fee is large enough that no finite rate produces the same payment.
- Doesn't account for late fees, prepayment penalties, or variable rates — enter a fixed rate for the term you're evaluating.
